Privacy Policy

Renewals is built to help you organize your own subscriptions and bills without giving up your privacy. There is no account, no bank linking, and nothing is sold. This policy explains exactly what the app does and doesn't do with your information.

Short version: your data lives on your device and in your own iCloud. A few optional features talk to our server to do their job (send email reminders, look up prices, read a bill you choose to scan) and send only what they need to. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.

Who we are

Renewals is published by Vicherana Ventures LLC ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@renewals.app.

Data stored on your device

The services, bills, prices, dates, and reminder settings you enter are stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device database. If you have iCloud enabled, this data may sync across your own Apple devices through your private iCloud account, which is controlled by Apple and not accessible to us. We do not receive a copy of this data.

Optional cloud features

Some features are optional and only run when you use them. When they do, they send the minimum necessary information to our backend (operated on Cloudflare) and, where noted, to the service providers that power them:

Email reminders. If you enter an email address and enable reminders, we store your email address and your reminder schedule (service names, the relevant dates, and price change amounts) on our server so we can send those reminder emails. Emails are delivered through our email provider (Resend). You can stop this at any time by removing your email in the app.
Bill and statement scanning. If you choose to scan or upload a bill or statement, the image or PDF is sent to our backend and processed by an AI provider (Anthropic) to extract the amounts and dates. These documents are processed once to return the result and are not stored by us.
Price and promotion look-ups. When you ask Renewals to check the latest price or promotion for a service, the service name is sent to our backend and looked up via an AI provider with web search. Results are cached in a shared, anonymous cache (keyed only to the service, never to you) to keep the feature fast and inexpensive.
Company logos. To show a service's logo, the app requests it from our backend by domain name (for example, "netflix.com"). Our backend retrieves the company's own publicly published website icon and caches it. Logos are not stored on your device, and this request does not include personal information.

A device identifier for fair use

To prevent abuse and keep costs manageable, the optional cloud features include an anonymous per-installation identifier (Apple's "identifier for vendor") used only to apply per-device usage limits. It is not linked to your name or contact details.

What we do not do

We do not require an account or password.
We do not connect to, or ask for, your bank or card login.
We do not use advertising or third-party analytics/tracking SDKs.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information for marketing.

Service providers

The optional features above are supported by a small number of processors who act on our behalf: Cloudflare (backend hosting and caching), Anthropic (AI extraction and look-ups), Resend (email delivery), and Google's public favicon service (retrieved through our backend for logos). Apple provides the App Store, on-device storage, and iCloud sync.

Data retention

On-device and iCloud data remains until you delete it in the app or remove the app. Your stored email address and reminder schedule remain on our server until you remove your email in the app. Scanned documents are not retained. Cached prices and logos are anonymous and expire automatically.

Your choices

You control what the app knows. Don't want any server involvement? Simply don't enter an email or use the scan/look-up features — the core app works entirely on your device. You can clear all app data at any time from Settings, and you can manage notification and calendar permissions in iOS Settings.

Children

Renewals is intended for adults managing their own finances and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
